Week 2!! Motivating Yourself to Succeed

I made it to Week 2 of my 21 day challenge to myself (and any of those who wanted to join me!).

During week 1, I began easy.

There were only 3 goals for each day.

  1. Workout for at least 20 minutes
  2. Take my vitamins
  3. Eat better

That’s it!  And you know what?  I did it!

The first 3 days were the hardest for me, getting myself motivated to do some exercise, remembering to take my vitamins and trying not to eat so much flour and add more veggies.

It was HARD!!

But I felt so great after I made it to Day 3, that I began seeing this amazing change in my mood.

In just 3 days!!

This motivated me to get through day 4 and then 5 and so on.

Finally I made it to day 7…and you know what, I thought, hmmm…I could just take it easy today, take a “rest” day, right?  That wouldn’t be so bad, I’ve earned it.

But then in the back of my mind, my little motivated girl started getting really upset, she was like NO WAY DUDE!!  All this hard work we’ve just done and you are gonna throw it all away?

And you know something? she’s right.  Because that’s how it starts, you take one rest day and it turns into 2 and then 5 and then 10 and soon you’ve lost this amazing feeling of awesomeness and you’re sitting on the couch again eating bon bons.  No sir! Not this girl!  I signed up for the commitment to myself and I am NOT letting myself down.

So I made a great decision that day, NO REST DAYS!!  None, no matter what, not happening…EVER.

Oh but just this once couldn’t be so bad D, I mean who’s gonna know?

ME!!

That’s who.

I must be a good example to my kids and my partner.  If I don’t hold myself accountable for my promises, I’ve got nothin’, then my families got nobody, then it spirals out into making life suck…and that’s so not cool.

Let’s face it folks, our word is all we’ve got in this life.

Just your word.

Honor, that’s what it’s called.

Look it up.

Ahh heck, here it is…

HONOR
(verb)

fulfill (an obligation) or keep (an agreement).

And I’m working on my honor in this challenge, as well as my motivation and open mindedness and a lot of other things.

Now that I’m head on into week 2, I’ve added a few new goals to my plate.

Don’t worry.

I can handle it.

I’ve got my big girl panties on now.

Besides there’s no going back, because back there sucks.  It’s lonely, tired, sad and terrifying and I’m not going back to that, not now, not ever.  NO WAY!

The goals I’ve added to this week are the following:

Day 1 –  Yoga.

Day 2 – Cardio.

Day 3 – Salad.

So my new goals just build onto my old goals…let me show you:

1. Exercise
  a. 20 minutes daily
  b. 15 minutes cardio

2. Mood
  a. Vitamins
  b. Yoga

3. Food
  a. Better Food Choices
  b. Salad daily

See? I’m taking the same three things I’ve been focusing on and just expanding them.  There is a fourth thing I’m working on and it is more of an internal thing, that I can’t quite put a label on…we’ll call it Life. It’s the way I handle things.

Last week I was working on commitment and motivation.

This week, while I’m still working on those things, I’ve added honor and determination.

Hmmm…maybe I need to write a separate blog about those things….

How is your week going?  Did you take the challenge?  What are your goals and how are you working toward being a more amazing person?  I love hearing about how others are challenging themselves to have a happier, healthier life!

Be Happy!
